Kenai is on the Cook Inlet at the mouth of the Kenai River, 156 miles south of Anchorage and 90 miles north of Homer. The city of Kenai has a population of 7100 and boasts magnificent views of Cook Inlet and Mt. Redoubt. At the 'end of the road' is Captian Cook State Park, one of the most beautiful state parks and best family campgrounds on the peninsula. The Swanson River canoe system and the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge.
Econnomy:
Kenai is the transportation hub of the Kenai Peninsula home to the peninsula's biggest and busiest airport. Dubbed the "oil capital of Alaska", Kenai's economy was triditionall based on the oil and gas industry and fishing. However, tourism is now playin a more important role.
